As part of our eDialogue project, we ran pilot workshops in three schools in Göttingen, Germany, which demonstrated a promising approach to addressing critical issues among secondary school students. The project’s lesson plans and workshop activities have demonstrated their potential to effectively address widespread concerns such as bullying, cyberbullying, fake news and misinformation. The positive outcomes and increased awareness highlight the importance of integrating these issues into the educational framework using engaging and participatory methods.
Empowering students through interactive learning:
The success of the pilot workshops lies in the innovative lesson plans and activities designed by the Erasmus+ eDialogue project consortium. By actively involving students in discussions on pressing issues such as bullying and misinformation, the project fosters a sense of empowerment and responsibility. The interactive nature of the workshops not only captures students’ attention, but also encourages critical thinking and open dialogue.
Addressing critical issues:
The workshops have proven to be effective in addressing critical issues prevalent among (secondary) school students. Bullying and cyberbullying, fuelled by the digital age, are tackled head-on through engaging activities that promote empathy and understanding. Similarly, the workshops address the threat of fake news and misinformation by equipping students with the skills to identify credible sources and think critically about the information they encounter.
Positive feedback and increased awareness:
The positive feedback received from participants confirms the impact of the Erasmus+ eDialogue workshops. Students not only appreciate the interactive approach, but also report an increased awareness of the issues discussed. This increased awareness is crucial for fostering a safer and more informed school environment, where students are equipped to face the challenges of the digital landscape.
Working together to improve learning outcomes:
The Erasmus+ eDialogue project emphasises the importance of collaboration with other organisations, creating a supportive ecosystem where young people feel comfortable discussing these critical issues. By fostering partnerships with organisations that resonate with students, the project enhances the overall learning experience. Such collaboration opens avenues for diverse perspectives, enriching dialogue and reinforcing the importance of addressing societal challenges together.
