Working remotely on a temporary basis is different than having a leading remote mindset. Shifting to a remote-first mindset means embracing a new approach. Think about the following:
- Does management take place in headquarters OR does it work remotely and across the world?
- Is synchronous communication the most practiced form of communication OR asynchronous communication is preferred?
- Is in-office work considered important work OR all work can be done remotely, including essential meetings
- Do critical decisions take place during formal and informal in-person interactions OR through remote communication?
- Do all meetings happen during headquarters office hours OR in-person meetings are limited and recorded for all time-zones?
- Is performance directly tied to hours in the office OR is it measured by results and not time spent in the office or online?
- Is a centralized platform for team engagement and communication being used?
Based on your answers, you can rethink your organizational processes and move towards a remote-first mindset!
