Here is a best practice we managed to identify during our piloting activities:
We found that carrying out activities over the course of several days, returning to something that has been addressed earlier, tends to produce much better results than a one-off activity. One example of that was an interactive environmental education sequence, where a virtual tour of a garden taught the children about the importance of sustainability. The children were excited to discover different plants and animals. Then they had an opportunity to virtually “plant” and cared for their own little plants. At the end of the project, not only were the children proud of their virtual gardens, but I was also deeply satisfied with their enthusiasm and commitment. The interactive activities allowed them to actively participate and directly apply what they learned.
