GEA - Growing into Eco-concious Adults
With the increasing threats posed by environmental challenges such as global warming, pollution, urbanization, deforestation, and biodiversity loss, the need to raise awareness about these issues has become more urgent than ever. Adult education plays a critical role in preparing citizens for the future and encouraging them to take responsibility for protecting the communities they live in, in response to these global challenges.
Environmental education and awareness-raising for adults can empower individuals to make informed decisions, increase the adaptation capacities of communities, and encourage the adoption of sustainable lifestyles. It is a key factor in developing responsible citizens and achieving sustainable development.
However, the protection of nature is often viewed as secondary to socioeconomic development, and the idea that human health cannot be safeguarded without protecting biodiversity is not taken seriously enough.
The Erasmus+ project “GEA – Growing into Eco-conscious Adults” aims to encourage individuals to bring about real change in their behavior and actions, starting with their daily lives. The project will design and implement a set of innovative and high-quality educational resources for adult educators and learners, especially those with disadvantaged socio-economic/educational backgrounds, to raise environmental awareness among adults who are not in formal education, while emphasizing the importance of social and digital inclusion in adult education.
The project partnership comprises seven organizations from various European countries:
- CESIE (Italy, coordinator),
- EUROGEO (Belgium),
- Symplexis (Greece)
- Cuiablue OÜ (Estonia),
- BUPNET (Germany)
- Eco Logic (Macedonia)
- Xwhy (UAB Theoria) (Lithuania)
